Granery in Slaný

The subject of the work is the reconversion of the Baroque granary building in Slaný. The proposal focuses on the meeting of generations and the idea of learning from experience, which is supported by a playful and variable space. It creates a new link between the streets of Palacký and Nejtkov, between which there is a lively parterre with a café, a gallery and a multipurpose hall. The complex form is supplied to the whole territory by the newly created public area in the technical services area.

The aim of the work was not to find a suitable way of new use of the historic building of the baroque granary so as to expand and strengthen the structure of the city's facilities, ideally focused on children and youth. Another area of the solution was the urban connection of the original building with the city's street network. The bachelor's thesis deals with the development of an architectural design for the conversion of a baroque granary. The specific method of intervention was left to the student's choice during the assignment, depending on the chosen strategy. The construction program itself is defined only in a general way and it is possible to extend it with other functions. Although it was possible not to stick to the functions associated with children and youth and to find a completely different use, I finally returned to this topic after the analytical part of the project. Thanks to its location, the solved building becomes an ideal adept for creating a leisure background for the youngest generation. The granary is situated on the edge of the historic center of Slaný, where there are several schools and kindergartens in the immediate vicinity. It is therefore possible to count on the use of space in the design both in the afternoon leisure hours and, for example, during teaching in creative or sports subjects.

Leisure time and leisure activities of middle school age pupils in Slaný

This bachelor thesis deals with leisure time and leisure activities of middle school age pupils in Slaný. The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and research. The theoretical part describes and defines the basic concepts related to the work, such as leisure, leisure education, leisure education facilities and characteristics of secondary school-age children. The last chapter is then devoted to a brief description and characteristics of leisure education in Slaný. The research part elaborates on a questionnaire survey conducted among sixth and seventh grade pupils of primary school in Slaný. The main objectives were to find out how pupils spend their free time, what leisure activities and clubs they prefer in their free time and whether or not there is satisfaction with the offer of leisure activities in Slaný. The results have been processed into tables and graphs and the data from the research reflect the current situation. Modern architecture in Slaný

The author of diploma thesis will compile an art-historical monography of an architecture of the first half of the 20th century in town called Slaný. Firstly, she briefly outlines the urban and architectural development of the town from its beginnings to the end of the 18th century and more specifically in the 19th century. This part of the thesis should result in defining the overall architectural characteristics of the town and identifying those that could positively and negatively determine the entry of modern architecture into the historical environment. The core part of the thesis will be devoted to the analysis and interpretation of selected buildings from the period between 1900 and 1950. The author will observe by which contents and ambitions was the city connected with modern architecture and what forms the battle between tradition and modernity resulted in. As well, she will attempt to find such architectural aspects between smaller town and center, that could be generalized for the entire Czech environment during the stated period. Media scene in region of Kladno in 1990-2000

During past era, Kladno and its surrounding area was an industrial district. Local development started at the end of the 18th century in connection with the discovery of coal seams. With the establishment of steelworks, massive growth of the entire region began in second half of 19th century. An increase in the population brought the need for an effective means of communication and this in turn resulted in this development of local media. Although local development had started late, Kladno quickly caught up with rest of the country and became really important nationally. During what was called "First Republic," there were many types of media but the most important was the labour-press. It was most evident with the social riots and general strike in 1920. World War II interrupted media publishing and the future situation in Czechoslovakia was not positive. After communist control of the country in 1948, media development stagnated. All officially published titles were leftist. The local media scene also produced some national mass- media that promoted political authorities. Another opportunity for media growth came following the "Velvet Revolution" in November 1989. The quality of soil intended for the housing development is the topic of diploma thesis. Frequently, the local soil of the highest quality is built on. For the purpose of this thesis there were 5 model areas defined: these are the areas of Roudnice, Říčany, Slaný, Vlašim, and Kolín. The thesis describes the quality of soil which is built on in these areas. The extent of housing development in these areas is specified on the basis of landscape plans. As such, it is possible to determine the quality of soil intended for the future housing development. Moreover, the thesis deals with the legislative protection of soil.
